FINCO Life Aspiration Outstanding

Student of the Year, Nur Khairunneesa

We meet thousands of secondary school students each year through the FINCO ASPIRE workshops. Get to know our winner, Nur Khairunneesa, a little better!

Nur Khairunneesa binti Abu Bakar, a Form 4 student from SMK Kota Samarahan, Sarawak, approached her high school counsellor, Cikgu Noorsalehan, for an individual career counselling session after going through multiple FINCO programmes. Through her learnings from the programme and the guidance of Cikgu Noorsalehan, she made a concrete decision to be an early childhood educator.

Even though she has another year of high school to complete, she took the initiative to speak to three kindergarten teachers to better understand the pathway she should take after SPM, other avenues to gain more insight into the industry, and the skills she could hone while she is still in school. On top of that, she even secured the opportunity to run a trial class with a group of kindergarten students, with the guidance of the teachers she spoke to!

Having a clear goal for herself, Khairunneesa actively encourages her peers to also explore their own aspirations through their class Telegram groups and various school programmes. She even volunteered as a facilitator to support her counsellor as she delivered the Post-SPM Pathway Module to other students.

Khairunneesa was awarded the FINCO Life Aspiration Outstanding Student of the Year Award 2024 for her strong initiative.
