HIP-FINCO Reads: World Book Day Challenge 2025

The World Book Day Challenge 2025 is designed to encourage English subject teachers from HIP-FINCO Reads Programme schools to integrate critical reading skills into their lessons while leveraging digital tools. To enter, simply conduct an activity with your students which celebrates reading any time leading up to, and after, World Book Day on 23 April 2025.

Three (3) overall winners will be chosen to win prizes worth RM500 each, comprising:

  • 1-year Twinkl Ultimate Subscription (RM280 per winner)

    👉 Access thousands of high-quality teaching resources, interactive games, and planning tools for every subject and level.

  • BookXcess Grant (RM220 per winner)

    👉 Choose your own books to support reading in your IRC.

Winners will be announced on FINCO’s Facebook and Instagram page on 22 May 2025.

Plan Your Activity

Select a reading activity that integrates digital or AI tools to enhance student engagement and learning.

Encourage Critical Thinking

Design tasks that develop students’ critical thinking skills.

Document Engagement

Capture student participation through screenshots, videos, or other digital evidence.

Submit Your Entry

Complete the online or offline form, answering the provided questions.

Recommended Digital and AI Tools for Teaching

You can use any digital or AI tool to support your lesson. Here are some options:

  • Twinkl – Access teaching resources, worksheets, and interactive lessons.
  • Suno AI – Generate AI-powered music for storytelling and language learning.
  • Nearpod – Create interactive lessons with real-time student participation.
  • Edpuzzle – Turn videos into interactive lessons with embedded quizzes.
  • Flip (formerly Flipgrid) – Facilitate video-based discussions and student reflections.
  • Kahoot! – Use gamified quizzes to make learning fun and engaging.

  1. All entries must be submitted by 11.59pm on 14 May 2025.
  2. Open to all HIP-FINCO Reads schools only.
  3. Each HIP-FINCO Reads school can submit only 1 entry.
  4. Entries must be submitted in English.
  5. Permission to publish: By entering this competition, you agree to give FINCO your permission to publish any materials for promotional or educational purposes on their online platforms. The publication will take place on the FINCO website, on Facebook and Instagram and it can be used for public relations purposes. In addition, you assure us that you own the rights to the text, photos and videos and that you grant us the right to use them. We assume no responsibility for the contents of the individual contributions.
  6. Use and Disclosure of Personal Data and Purpose Specification: FINCO will keep confidential all personal information collected through this competition. We may however disclose such information to the following parties in the course of using the information for the reason it was collected:
    1. A person or company acting on behalf of FINCO;
    2. Any other person or company who has undertaken to keep such information confidential, provided they have a right to such information.
  7. Data Retention: We will keep any personal information you give us as long as there is a reason to do so, for instance to satisfy the law or regulations, or to protect our interests. If not, then we will destroy it by purging it from our electronic, manual, and other filing systems according to our internal procedures and schedules.
