The Train-the-Trainer (TTT): Personal Financial Management for Teachers programme

Before joining the Training of Trainers (TTT) programme, Pn. Suhaila Al Husna binti Nasruddin from SMK Dato’ Mohd Said felt that her limited knowledge of personal financial management left her less prepared and less confident. The programme became a turning point. Since then, she has taken meaningful steps to strengthen her own financial well-being by building additional streams of passive income, establishing an emergency savings fund, and managing financial risks more carefully. What began as professional development has translated into real personal growth, giving her greater assurance in making sound financial decisions.

Determined to extend this impact to her students, she began integrating financial management lessons into her Form 5 classes, particularly raising awareness about investment scams and financial risks that young people may face using the Ringgit Rules modules. Beyond her classroom, she has also contributed actively as a Jurulatih Utama (JU), working with a team to conduct four financial management sharing sessions for teachers across Negeri Sembilan. Within her own school, she led a comprehensive session involving all teachers and support staff, adapting FINCO’s materials and enriching them with current, real-world issues to make the learning more relevant and engaging.

Workshop participants reported a 49% increase in confidence to deliver financial literacy knowledge and a 20% improvement in learning outcomes. This was supported by the team’s structured and collaborative preparation, with each trainer specialising in a specific topic to ensure clear and effective delivery in Port Dickson. Through dedication and teamwork, Pn. Suhaila and her fellow trainers have not only strengthened their own capabilities but have empowered many others to champion financial literacy with confidence.
